Текст на английскомWinning award after award, gracing magazine covers, appearing on national talk shows, performing at the White House, and now, touring across the nation--the singing stars of "Glee" come face to face with me, a little ol' nobody from speech club.
I recently sat down with six members of the cast: Matthew Morrison, Cory Monteith, Chris Colfer, Dianna Agron, Jenna Ushkowitz and Kevin McHale. I'm not going to lie--I was a little miffed that some of the other members (Jane Lynch, Lea Michele, Amber Riley and Mark Salling) were too busy or maybe just "too cool" to join me. The rejection kind of reminded me of my own high school years; I never had a "slushie" thrown at me like the kids at "Glee's" fictional Mckinley High School but now I kinda know what it feels like.
"It's been a wild ride and it's been very rewarding to be able to live your dream the way we have," said Matthew Morrison, who plays high school Spanish teacher and glee club director Will Schuester.
He and the rest of the group shared some juicy secrets about the show with me, or, as I like to call them: "se-Glee-crets".
In Tuesday April 20th's episode, we get to experience ten of Madonna's biggest hits sung by the "Glee" cast, but as they revealed to me in "se-Glee-cret #1", Madge couldn't even be bothered to talk with them personally.
"There would be times where they'd kinda be suspiciously ushering us to set," said Agron, who plays the knocked up cheerleader Quinn Fabray. "And we're like 'oh guys Madonna's here, she's waiting here!' but she didn't come."
The cast never even got a pep talk from her. "In spirit she's on the show." said Colfer, who plays the flamboyantly gay Kurt Hummel. "But we kept wishing she'd actually come."
"Se-Glee-cret #2": The cast is actually singing live when it films episodes.
"We do pre-record the songs, " explained Morrison. But when we're filming it we're actually singing (along with the pre-recorded music) because you want to see the veins working, you want to look like you're actually singing."
For that very same reason (here comes "se-Glee-cret #3"), each cast member is constantly pushing the producers for songs they want to sing.
McHale, who plays wheelchair-bound guitarist Artie Abrams, has been itching to moonwalk to Michael Jackson tunes, while Monteith wants to cover Swedish hard rock band Europe's "The Final Countdown."
Since Morrison is working on his own album (due out next fall), and spending practically all his free time on it, Monteith joked to him, "Maybe you could cover 'Working for the Weekend'."
After singing a few bars of that classic Loverboy tune together, Morrison responded, "Yeah that's a great song."
After selling millions of albums and singles, has the show helped its stars find love in the real world? As discovered in "se-Glee-cret #4", the answer is no, at least according to Monteith.
"I think it would improve the potential for a love life if I had enough time to have a life outside 'Glee'," said Monteith, at 27, the oldest of the high school glee club members.
"Glee" producers are now conducting a national search to cast additional roles for the show; it's a project that might make some actors insecure. But the current "Glee" cast says they're not worried ("se-Glee-cret #5").
"I think it's a good thing because it keeps the bar raised," said Ushkowitz, who plays Tina Cohen-Chang. "It keeps us really challenged. There's no threat."
I then asked them if any of the actors ever became jealous of one another when songs were assigned--and they failed to get the tune they wanted to sing ("se-Glee-cret #6"):
"Amber (Riley) wants to sing every song," said Morrison, as the cast laughed in unison. I would have laughed, too, but of course Amber hadn't made it to the interview. And I started getting angry all over again.
Finally, I wanted to know if the incredible success of the show had started to create some rivalries within the cast. I'd seen it happen on other TV shows in the past ("se-Glee-cret #7"):
The cast seemed to find that question preposterous, laughing and joking sarcastically with responses like "absolutely" and "we can't stand each other!"
Then, in mock indignation, Morrison and Agron pretended to storm out of our interview.
"I'm leaving, bye," Agron said. She then whispered into the ear of the "Glee" publicist in the corner of the room and, yes, she ACTUALLY left!
Sitting back down, Morrison said, "We're all really really a tight family."
Yet I kept looking out into the hallway to see if Agron was really never coming back.
At that moment I again felt like I was back in high school. The cheerleaders never wanted to talk to me there either.
The spring season of "Glee" will also feature songs from Olivia Newton John and Lady Gaga. The upcoming "Glee" tour hits Rosemont Theater May 25th and 26th. Tickets are still available
